Gull Wing Bridge

The Gull Wing Bridge in Lowestoft is the world’s largest rolling bascule bridge lifted by hydraulic cylinders. It provides a vital connection between the north and south of the town. The bridge’s most striking feature is the dual ‘gull wings’ that act as counterweights.  In this short film, the designers explain how they worked with LKAB to achieve the necessary weight using LKAB’s specialist, high-density concrete, MagnaDense.
